I cannot tell you how many times these jerkoff car lots have tried to pull fast ones and sell cars that are not as advertised. The last straw was on a C3 that I really liked from the pictures that were presented, the documentation, and the fact that the seller said this car was in perfect shape. Ready to be shown. I simply asked will these car need ANY work when I receive it. The answer was NO. Well I thought this was the one and sent up an inspector to take a look at this car. Next thing I know I am being told that the seller refused to let the inspector drive the car and had to be a passenger. That was total BS. And on top of that the seller couldn't engage third gear on two occasions on the test drive. Furthermore, the convertible top was not reaching the windshield and the inspector asked for it to be put down and back up again. The seller refused that as well. Even more disturbing were the cracks and chips in the paint. Yes this is cosmetic and really not a big deal, but it is a big deal when the seller tells you the paint is 100 percent perfect and it ends up not even being close to that. I could go on and on but this car was not represented properly to me and simply pi$$ed me off to the point where I was like screw this. So I went back to doing research on other cars again and started over.

What is keeping me from squawking about the new ride is the fact I said some really nasty things about the C6. Essentially I have put my foot into my mouth however in my research I discovered something about the C6 that I did not really look into at all. That being the Z-51 performance package. For two days in a row I ended up at the Chevy dealerships looking and test driving corvettes. Simply put what I wanted was the power and feel of my Z06 in convertible form. I did not want a hardtop style corvette. I wanted to put the top down, feel the cool breeze, and feel the power and feel of a Z06. To my knowledge the only way to do that is ship the car up to someone who takes chainsaws and chops off the tops and but custom convertibles on corvettes. That simply is not an option for me.

I test drive convertible C6s. I drove more than one and my feeling is that although it was nice to have the top down I found the feel to be more "flat" than what I was used to. I simply didn't like it. The funny thing is was that these guys were actually presenting me with very good deals as they were trying to move the cars out but I simply didn't like the feel. Therefore, I ended up going home empty handed. Then I started looking more with the options on a C6 and came across the Z-51 package. I saw some reports about how it actually emulates the feel of a C5 Z06. I was like wtf? I need to check this out. I went online to learn to find some in the local area to test drive. There was one convertible that had the drilled brakes but the non chevy dealership couldn't confirm if it was a z-51 package. It turns out that it appeared to be just a brake upgrade and nothing more. Well I went to the dealership the next day to drive a coupe with a Z-51 package just to see if I noticed any difference. And I can say I most certainly did. I was impressed with it. Much better with it than without. The dealer said that they do make Z51's in convertible form but they are not so easy to find. Especially if you want a specific color as I told him that I would only want tripleblack. Nothing else. Well we checked and I be damn!!!!!!! There was a 2005 TripleBlack convertible with all the bells and whistles (except the power top) that was available. The car only had 8200 miles on it!!!!!!!! That's right. Hardly ever driven. I almost passed out what the original price plus dealer markup was. But what there was asking was at Kelly Blue Book and I figured this is one I need to take a look at. And that I did. When I arrived at the dealership I was greeted by the gentleman that I spoke with on the phone when I inquired about the car. He was ready for me. It is good to call before to let them know you are coming and are serious about buying the car. You are generally guaranteed a test drive if you do that. I spent about 1 hour looking at the car. Just looking at it nothing more. Although I still do like the pop up lights and I think the front is viperized I did find this car to be beautiful and in great condition. The paint was in great condition. The interior was perfect. While I was looking some other guy and his wife were looking at the car and getting in my face. I thought that was a little rude but he had a right to look at the car just as I did. The seller said he could move the car at another location for me to look to avoid this. I thought that was a nice gesture. I told him it won't be necessary but will need at least another hour or two to look at this car and test drive it and if they would be kind enough to take a 500 dollar refundable deposit to take it off the market for the next two hours I would appreciate it. They took my card and then ended up saying. Ah-we aren't gonna run your card. We will give you time here today. We won't sell to anyone else while you are in the store looking at it. I thought that was awesome, too!
Well I drove the car and man what a difference. The Z-51 makes a huge difference. I felt like I was in my Z06 again. It wasn't so much the power but the feel that I missed the most. I was convinced that if I can get a great deal on this I would pull the trigger. After going back and forth I paid 5000K less than asking price AND told them to take off the 599 Dealer Prep as there are two small blemishes in the paint that I have to fix. (Actually the fix is a tiny speck of touch up paint in two areas. I was making a big deal out of NOTHING. LOL!!!!!!! The manager was at first bitching about my request, but the dealer convinced him that they should sell to me and my request was reasonable. (actually it wasnt reasonable. LOL). But it is a game. The manager okayed it and after telling the finance manager to not waste any time on selling me any of their crap, I signed and took home a:

2005 TripleBlack C6 Z51 Convertible

The original owner traded in this car to get one of those new Ron Fellows Z06s. He treated this car with respect and I will do the same.

Okay flame on!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing wrong with your decision. A black Z51 6 speed C6. The only difference between yours and mine is the top.
