From everything I read you should remove as much of the membrane as possible .This is not easy even with a chain saw .

Also how long do you boil the ribs before cooking ?

Listen up Bone head.

Is it better to boil ribs before cooking?
Pros for Boiling Ribs. ... This will greatly reduce the cooking time on the grill and the long simmer will soften the connective tissue of the meat, resulting in much more tender ribs. It is important that you simmer the ribs rather than cook them at a full boil for a long time. The heat of a boil can result in tough meat.

If you boil ribs down south...you risk getting slapped upside your head by someone named Uncle Willie...

For tender ribs, remove the thin membrane covering the inside To remove, use a knife to gently slide under the membrane, then using your fingers pull the membrane away from the bones. If slippery or difficult to remove, use a kitchen towel or pair of pliers to take hold of it and give a good steady pull.

Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Line your baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a cooling rack on top. Cover in dry rub if you choose, Lay the ribs on top of the rack in a single layer (be careful not to overlap). This allows for optimal heat circulation all around the ribs. Bake ribs, meaty side up, in the oven for 2 to 2.5 hours, uncovered. After the 2.5 hours has passed, remove the ribs from the oven and brush 1/2 of BBQ sauce all over them.
Cover the ribs with aluminum foil and put them back in the oven and continue cooking for an additional 2 to 2.5 hours.
Ribs are done when they reach an internal temperature of 190 degrees. Increase the temperature in the oven to 450 degrees.
Brush the remaining sauce over the ribs and place them back in the oven uncovered for 5-10 minutes to create a thick crust with the sauce.
Remove from oven, loosely cover with foil and rest for about 5 minutes. Serve and enjoy
