PPE, i.e. guns

Personal protection equipment

Jim & I were talking last night about getting a gun to keep in the house. Since he travels a good bit, and Chris is off doing his own thing, I want to have something "just in case". We're living in a mean world.....

What do y'all recommend and how much should I expect to spend?

And can I get it in fashionable colors?

Norm is on his way to becoming very cool!
Go to a gun shop with a range, pick out weapon you're comfortable with, take a firearms safety and shooting course, practice, practice, practice.

Handgun for home defense? I recommend a Smith & Wesson, something like THIS or any clone thereto. Like Taurus, Ruger, Colt. .38 should be your minimum caliber, but a modern revolver chambered for .357 magnum can shoot the 38 too.

I select a revolver for home defense as it's simple and fairly foolproof. No safety, etc to worry about in the heat of the moment, pull the trigger and it goes bang. At least 6 times. That should do it....
