We had a couple of interesting places to run. Stopping traffic on the Belt Parkway so two guys could straddle the white lines was not unheard of. It wasn't cool at rush hour but later in the evening, it worked well.
We had something called the 'Connecting Highway' in Queens. This was an unfinished sunken highway that attracted some pretty wild stuff - trailered stuff, a dragster once, bikes, trucks - just get on and run - good times and good fun. The law would allow us about an hour and would make a pass on the Service Road. If you were dumb enough to still be there when they came back 20 minutes later, 'Good-bye, ole buddy'.
We also had a Service Road alongside the Belt Parkway - very close to the water. It was a great stretch - - unless you didn't slow down enough before a bit of a bend in the road over a half mile further. One or two guys didn't and got pretty damned wet plus wrecking some sweet vehicles
Vetrod, one of the reason for staying off for awhile was super stiff fingers. This cold weather here in Florida is some pain - for us guys whose blood has thinned out from being here so long. I do a lot of reading though.
Best wishes to all you guys. I sure hope to run into you again at Mike's next bash - hopefully will be bringing 'Beach Dude' with me.
Cheers

Craig, Yea, lots of memories from back then. Did you guys ever hang out at the Quarry in Franklin? Two small flooded quarries. The one had 30-40 foot cliffs around it. The other had a 110 foot cliff. We always camped at the lower one with our beer. Eventually we made a bunch of jumps off the 110. A lot of kids died there also. Those were the days.
DJ, Great to here from you. Your stories want me to go back and read the
WTF ? Have all of you gone to third world countries ? Thread. It might be time to bring that one back. I think I have at least 15 more to tell. Do not worry about low posting, the hint was for some other members.
