View Full Version : Corvette Car Lots! WTF???????

Is it just me? Do I smell like parrot $hit???????? I mean WTF???????

Does anyone want to answer questions about the corvettes they have for sale on their lots? Yeah they love to talk price but I am just looking and asking about some vehicles at several corvette places and they are all nice and friendly and want to talk about the price, but when you ask them really SPECIFIC questions about the vehicle they dissappear. I mean it seems if you are knowledgable about corvettes they don't want to deal with you.

I made some simple inquiries at a few corvette dealers nationwide about the cars they are selling and once I ask for specific information about the engine and other detailed specifications I don't get any answers.

I don't know. Maybe it is just me and this happens to nobody else. But these corvette car lots are really beginning to REALLY pi$$ me off.

Speaking of $$$$, I just noticed that this one particular dealer changed the price. They had two prices. The lower appeared to be a "sale price" but now after I made the inquiry they removed the lower price!!!!!!!! :wtf:

WHAT THE PHUCK??????? Is this some kinda of a game????? Man I am about to rat this one out dealer out here at the Valley. I have at least three witnesses here that saw the ad in its entirety. On this one dealer I have made two calls and sent a couple of emails. No response since I told them about the lower price and after I asked specific questions. I still await responses from other dealers on cars I am interested in but this one is phucked up. CHANGING THE PRICE????? That is messed up!!!!!!!

Pardon my French!!!!!!!!! :french:

It doesn't surprised me in the slightest. One of the things I hate about my car habit is dealing with car salesmen. I hope I don't offend anyone here but I don't care for them much. Since my last few cars have been purchased at retail thru a special agreement with my dealership, I have not had to deal with them. Thank God.

Good luck with your quest and if you need me to check out any cars in my area, just say the word.

Nah you won't offend anyone here, except maybe 84 Grandsport. Well phuck him. He tried to sell me and Daddy a beat up jaguar with a busted air bag.

Anyway, I don't think 84 would be as sleeze to change the price on the car. Now I expect to maybe finally get that phone call or email saying, "We made a mistake on the price, it is now 10K more than what was listed and quoted you on the phone. Are you still interested? What a bunch of :bs: this is.

As for a dealer near you Performin Norman. There is a dealer near you which appears nice. I may actually drop them a line and "interview" them if they would be interested in selling to vetteheads rather than impulse idiot buyers.

What a crock of $hit this is. I actually have never been this pi$$ed off on Corvette Valley EVER!!!!!!!!!! This is worse than the Conservatives here!!!!!!!!

Yes, yes and yes. I just experienced all of the above last Saturday. And then to top it off the sales lady I was dealing with called Monday and said they could NOW meet my terms that they said were impossible Saturday afternoon. But get this, ONLY If I could come right after work and close the deal. So I proceded to tell her l could not get back over there until this coming Saturday. She then of course said they had someone else looking at the car I wanted and it might not be here Saturday. I told her "then sell it and we will see what else is available Saturday". Geez ,what a PITA it is to try and spend your money now.

Well this "price changing" dealer owned the car themselves. So it wouldn't be hard to answer my questions. I had a lot of questions, but it seems these dealers don't give a rat's a$$ about someone who is educated and wants a correct corvette. They rather spend time looking for some chump that falls in love with the look and writes them a check.

These guys are so bogus it is ridiculous. This may result in us never ever having a "sponsored" dealer at the Valley. Sounds like most of them are frauds and are in it to make a buck. Screw the buyer is their motto.

It would actually be an easy sell if you are a vette-head. Present the car as you say it is and prove it. If you prove it, then there will be a deal.

But instead, some have to change prices and not return calls and emails. Phucking idiots!!!!!!

I've come to believe the moron sales people have zero knowledge about Corvettes. They are trained to sell, sell, sell. Period. Perhaps if they attended seminars and watched the cars roll off the line in Bowling Green, they could answer your questions.

I was (seriously) considering trading Sweet a few months ago, but I got so dayum tired of the :bs: , I walked away. For the next week, the salesBOY called me DAILY and said if I would "just take the time to come in and talk to them, he was sure they could make me happy."

Nope. No deal.:maddog:

I don't get it, whats the laugh about? lol
Let me fill you in!!!!!!!!

I was looking at that Ontario Orange corvette. It was located at the same place that sargevette linked too, at buyachevette.net er I mean buyavette.net

I made an initial inquiry on the vehicle and in a nutshell the vehicle was not represented "correctly" to me. I called them on it and I do have to say they did apologize for the error. However, stuff like this shouldn't happen from those who say they are experts in the field of corvettes and wish to sell them. In my opinion, if you don't know about the cars inside and out they you shouldn't be in the business of selling them.

Now there was the other place, which makes sargevette's recommendation a saint of all corvette dealers. This particular one is nothing more than worthless garbage. A dealer that certainly does not want to entertain those that have ANY knowledge about corvettes. This proven from their lack of responses about their car for sale not by just me, but by another individual. Once they see you are there to find out in detail about the car rather than just handing them over a check they want nothing to do with you. Email after email, phone call after phone call. Nothing. Also I requested a detailed photo of the engine stamp so I can take a look at it. Yep, nothing in return. Restamp perhaps????? But the most slimy thing about this particular place is the price change. I called to confirm the price as it was stated on the advertisement and simply asked if there was any room to shave it. I was told it was. Next thing I know when the other individual called about the car, they RAISED the price. What a bunch of slimy worthless pieces of $hit!!!!!! It is folks like this that make you car dealers worse than carnival barkers. All you give a $hit about is making your sale and finishing the day and getting in your Ford Focus and going home to shower off your sleeze. I cannot imagine the number of customers that get taken every day by these pricks. I won't name the dealer here as I don't want to give them ANY recognition whatsoever. However, if anyone must know, feel free to pm me. It will be my pleasure to show you exactly who the sleeze is. The funny thing is that this would have actually been an easy sale for them. I already arranged someone to go up and inspect the car. I told them I was going to send someone. It was after that that I got the cold shoulder. If the person that I sent gave me the thumbs up, I would have bought the car in a heartbeat. Obviously, they are gutless and are clearly selling something that isn't what it is. Jerks!!!!!

It is a damn shame that these dealers get away with such crap. And even more disturbing on how they succeed in taking customers for a ride.

Most dealers are indeed scum. There are a few good ones though. Like Pro-Team in Napolean, Ohio. Yes their prices are over market but chances are slim that you will get a fake or a car that was misrepresented to you. Also, they will talk to you for 30 minutes or for however long you like about any of their cars for sale. They have nothing to hide. Nothing at all. But most other dealers work for the devil.

Once thing is certain, if a dealer will talk specifics about the car they have on the lot, then you know they are most likely selling you the real deal. The rest of them can go stick their oil dipstick up their a$$holes.

There are some car dealers with no conscience, or ethics. There are customers with no conscience or ethics. They change tyres, batterys, remove sound systems and put in 'alternatives'. Between deal and delivery, damage is not disclosed.

I get a price quote on a vehicle today and notice on the website the car is now sold along with a bunch of other cars of theirs. It wasn't sold yesterday. I know that for certain as I had others look at this car on their site and it was available!

I don't know if they made a mistake on their website or they have no phucking idea what they have in their inventory. The guy asked for my contact information to talk about the car which I gave. I told him I prefer to correspond by email as I have lots of questions about the car. I have not heard from him. Granted it is from only this morning and usually 1-2 days for a reply is appropriate. However, the website is showing the vehicle he quoted a price to me as SOLD along with others.

Do you mean to tell me this dealer had a great day selling cars and updated his website with lightening speed????????

In other news, the one dealer that said that the car I was asking about was sold (sold only hours after they quoted me a price) never got back to me either. I asked them to let me know what type of documentation you had on the vehicle you just sold as I was curious to know if this was a correct car. I sold my '86 vette on autotrader and I asked alot more than it was worth because I knew the other interested parties would talk me down. So if you find an over priced vette don't be discouraged. There is alot of room for negotiating with a private party.

Good input here. And one may be better off dealing with a private party. These corvette car lots seem to not know anything about the cars they are selling. It appears when someone starts asking them all sorts of questions about the car; eg. owner history, request a photo of the engine stamp, if certain features of the car are working, they freeze up and end up avoiding you at all costs. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

The price was advertised on their website and when I called they told me it was still available but "someone" offered them over 15,000 dollars more than what was advertised on their website.

The funny thing is I actually know a lot of folks that work at this "someone's" place and already suspected that perhaps this was total :bs: OOOOPS!!!!! You should have kept your mouth shut or not name this "someone" to me! It just could bite you in the a$$!!!!!

The car is very nice but does not have the tank sticker. They say it was so messed up during its restoration it was tossed. Well if I was restoring the vehicle and if the tank sticker was in a million pieces I still would save it and put it in a plastic bag. At least you would still have a part of it.

Anyway, the guy said he doesn't know if he really wants to sell it now. :wtf:
It is advertised on his website and so called had a really big offer for it. Simply put, if he didn't sell for the price he told me he got offered he is either a phucking MORON or was expecting me to maybe offer more than what that other person alledgedly has offered.

He told me to call back on Monday to see if they still want to sell it it.

Now for the good part! :rofl1:

I called up that "someone's" place of business and 1. They don't know what the phuck this particular dealership is talking about.

2. They would have never made such a high offer especially if there is no tank sticker. Furthermore, this "someone" generally doesn't make offers to buy cars. The sellers come to them with their selling price. Sounds like I am being told that this was a load of :bs: right from the very people that supposedly made an offer. :rofl1:

I really do think the car is absolutely gorgeous and advertised what it is. Will I be calling back? Yep. But, I will pretty much tell them that the starting point is from your advertised price. Period. Any offers you get really doesn't concern me nor do I care. If you wanna talk business here is my contact information. Pick up the phone when you are ready.

I TOTALLY forgot about that.

Must be a universal dealer game that is well known!!!!!!!!!

IF this is a well known game?

Why the hell advertise on a car if you have no intention of selling it. Are they bored? Nothing else better to do than waste peoples time?????

I just got an email pointing me to this website. The person said it may interest me.

Same damn thing happened to me earlier this month when I was interested in a C4. I was interested in the car and jumped through hoops to get someone to come with me to look at the car and come with me while I make a deal. I work at Wall Street at the Stock Exchange and this clown tells me he doesn't want to sell me the car anymore right before we were supposed to meet. Also said he couldn't drive it in the rain to show me if it was going to rain. What a waste of my time. Fortunately for me I stayed at my office at the NYSE instead of seeing that POS and got into a nice IPO. Sold it two days later at a 700 percent profit!!!!! So this moron actually made me money. Thanks!!!!!

Great site you have here. Thanks for the link.

I called these people this morning and they said they would get back to me with a price. They most certainly did and they said a price that was 25K over their price that was listed on their website. These guys are ridiculous. He says this car you can never replace. :bs: It ain't the only car around, pal and can probably find one with a tank sticker as they didn't save theirs. Also he said he talked to some other corvette restorations places and that is the going rate. DOUBLE :bs:

Needless to say I will not be returning his voice mail with his ridiculous price to discuss. I haven't even seen the car and it may not even be worth the advertised price they have on their website and they quote me this outrageous price????? What a crock of $hit!!!!!!!!!

In all fairness to this particular company, I have heard a response from the general manager regarding an email I sent weeks ago saying I was unhappy with their handing of my inquiries on their vehicles. I do not feel it is appropriate to share his email in the open forum, however his email appeared genuine to me, demonstrated real concern, and therefore I have responded to him. Perhaps, this is one corvette car lot that wants to be above the rest. I am willing for them to make things right. Let's see what they can do.

I like to thank this individual for finally contacting me. It appears my email got lost in the system but it was retrieved by him when he was looking for something else. I believe that this occurred and he is telling me the truth about this. So I have decided to re-engage them.

Well I won't be test driving one particular automatic corvette. Nor am I really interested in an automatic. I don't even think I have to "try it" to see if I like it. This particular car lot did inform me that this car is NOT painted the original color. This disclosure to me was most appreciated and saved me a lot of my time. I simply asked if this is car was original and documented. A very fast reply via a phone call from the owner of the corvette car lot told me everything up front and said he knows exactly what I am looking for in a corvette and is on a mission. This appears to be one high class corvette lot, one of the very few I have seen so far. It is about damn time. Fortunately this happens to be a local store, but I can tell he would do the same for anybody no matter where they lived.

Yeah, I spoke to one of their dealers just recently and we talked about the negative feedback they get. It is actually pretty funny. I laugh that our 1967 was insured for almost double what we paid for the car. And that was only months later after we bought the car. Isn't that hilarious?????

I am learning that these car lots are using sleezeball techniques to "advertise" their cars on ebay.

Listen to this garbage.

I saw a car I was interested in on ebay. I emailed the seller who happened to work at one of these corvette car lots. I asked him about the car and also asked what they were looking for in price. He emailed me a price. This price was about 3K over what the current bid was on ebay.

Well today I call up to get more info. I didn't tell them I saw the car on ebay but rather saw it on their website. They tell me about the car which was no different than advertised. I ask him what they are looking for in terms of price. The quote was over 11,000 dollars than what I got from emailing via ebay.

About an hour later the auction ended early because "the car is no longer available."

Well it still is last I checked. But you have to pay the higher price to get it. These dealers are clearly using ebay to get bidders and interest in their cars so they call up. Then when they see they are getting calls they end the auction. Even if the reserve price was reached they could still end the auction because they state in the auction they can end it for any reason.

What a crock of $hit. Are there any reputable corvette car lots out there????????

Just like if you have a watch on ebay & in your store at the same time & someone comes in your jewlery store with cash you can sell it to the guy with cash instead of waiting for a supposed buyer who might back out last minute......Its called business!:nutcrack:
